My mom recently bought a blender.
It is the Suruchi blender suitable for blending lentils, making chutney or just to blend. Anyway, she acquired it after our recent trip to India where we visited my relatives over there and they were using it for their cooking.
Every morning my mom would blend a mixture of small bitter gourds and green apple and have it first thing before breakfast and usually she would put it in her juicer. However today, she decided to use the blender.
She added a little bit of water followed by the bitter gourds and green apples and started blending them. I, on the hand, was oblivious to what was happening, just seated at the dining table with my laptop.
She peered out from the kitchen with a sheepish smile.
“Why?”, I asked.
“It became a shake. How am I going to drink it?”, she laughed.
I stood up and went into the kitchen to see the demise caused. It looked like a bitter gourd chutney (if there even is such dish).
“You need to add more water”, I said.
“No, it would dilute it and become to watery, it won’t be a juice”, she said.
“Just add more water… It’s too thick.”
“No, I think I’ll just strain it.”
I tried my best not to insist again. So I gave a different suggestion.
“How about putting the blended contents into the juicer again?”, I suggested.
“You are giving me more stuffs to wash later”, she replied.
I sighed. This is definitely not going anywhere. Every suggestion I gave was being dismissed.
Finally, she decided to do just that. She added the blended contents into the juicer and all is well.
