2023 started off on a weird and rocky note. I remembered pushing my dad to go for a health checkup when he told me that he had a second episode of chest pain which radiated to his left arm. Following his health checkup, he was admitted and had a stent inserted. Shortly after that, my mom was admitted as well.
Then, February flew by and before I knew it, March came. March was beautiful. I started fasting towards the end of February and at the end of March, me and my parents travelled to India to visit my relatives. I recalled enjoying myself to the fullest. I absolutely enjoyed my time there and did not want to leave.
This however seems ages ago to me. It felt as if years have gone by when in actual fact, it was only this year.
Fast forward to May and my offer letter came in to choose the hospital for my internship. June, I flew to Kuching, Sarawak and I’ve been here for two months (at the time of writing this article).
I miss the food at home. I miss my morning routine of getting up super early just to attend the morning mass or to have breakfast with my parents. I miss meeting my best friend after mass. I miss driving. Most importantly, I miss my parents.
Somehow being here makes me less homesick than when I was in Kuala Lumpur. However, I still miss home.
Honestly, I do not know of when I’ll be travelling back. Time is moving both relatively fast and slow at the same time.
Now, it’s August, at the time of me writing this article.
I long for a week long getaway again in a peaceful and quiet place where I can just sit and write with my cup of coffee or tea.
