A short article which I wrote towards the end of 2023 which I have yet to share.

Article written by Dr. Jewel Nambiar.

This is a short article I wrote back in December 2023 but have yet to post it.

Earlier this year, I wrote an article on my goals and expectations for the year 2023.

As a summary, my goal this year was to:

  • Live healthier – mainly weight loss
  • Financial freedom
  • Growing The Theoretical Doctor

Have I successfully attained all of my goals?

First of all, in a way, I am much healthier in the sense that I mainly consume real foods or home cooked foods. Albeit my poor time management, somehow I try to inculcate cooking within my daily routine. In addition to eating healthy or eating clean, I find myself walking excessively almost every day which contributed to the shedding of 10kgs almost easily.

However, I am not all that healthy as on most days, I skip lunch. I try to make up for it with a hearty dinner and a small breakfast.

Next, financial freedom. In a way, yes and also no. I’m no longer dependant on my parents in terms of finances which was my main goal.

It feels good to actually be in control of handling and paying off my rent, and other bills and finally treating myself or my parents with gifts.

Sadly, this impulse spending and splurging has led to minimal savings which in a way made me feel less secure.

Finally, growing The Theoretical Doctor. It has grown in terms of my articles and the views. I am extremely grateful for that. Initially, I had a “2 year plan” in attempts to grow my website as well as my YouTube channel.

Sadly, that has turned into a sideline project.

What could I do better?

First of all, although losing weight is good, I feel lighter and able to think clearly but skipping meals is not exactly good as I am prone towards gastritis. There are days when the pain in my stomach makes me question if I’m on the verge of developing stomach or duodenal ulcer?

Next, actually setting aside more savings and having a set goal of savings amount. Perhaps it’s because I am still single and thus, my commitment is very limited towards me settling my monthly bills and taking care of my parents. However, I need to keep sight of my expenditure and start saving more while I am still working.

Lastly, actually growing The Theoretical Doctor. I may not have the luxury of planning out my videos and editing them as I did previously. However, I am able to use this time to share my experiences as a house officer through my articles.

In summary, my goals for 2023 were rather simple and the second half of the year flew by rather quickly for me. However, I have no regrets for the year and I look forward to the new year with a renew set of goals and a chance to improve myself.
