Worrying About The Future

A short answer to a prompt regarding my future.

Article by Dr Jewel Nambiar.

What are you most worried about for the future?

Many things actually.

As I go about work, I try my best not to be worried and just go about my day. Next thing I know, the day has passed and it is time for me to go home. If there is anything on my mind to actually be worried about, it would be regarding work for the following day otherwise, my mind is mostly free and empty. But in reality, there are many things running through my mind and many things I do worry about subconsciously, just like anyone else. Well, what are these?

Not having enough.

Yes, I am working now. I am supporting myself but is it enough later on? Will I have enough to buy a house? Will I have enough savings? How about when I have a family of my own, will we have enough and then some more? Will I be able to support my children and parents as well as support my children’s education?

Sometimes, going about my usual day, I overlook how time passes by so quickly. Before I know it, it is July 2024, at the time of writing this. We have entered the third quarter of the year. Before you know it, it will be the end of the year.

What am I doing about it?

Well, that is something I’m still figuring out. Monthly savings, well I try to but I need it to climb even more. It’ll take time.

Albeit it being what I’m most worried about for my future, as I mentioned before in how I go about daily, I do not focus on it and just go about my day.

Somehow, I believe that things will turn out just fine. Trust the process, show up everyday and work hard. It’ll be fine.

That’s the bare minimum at least.
