A short blog regarding the small change I hope my writing would bring to the community of junior doctors, especially those embarking on their housemanship journey.

Article written by Dr Jewel Nambiar.

What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?

When I first started this blog, my goal was to share notes and flashcards from my YouTube channel as I was mainly focused on covering the STPM Biology syllabus, thus providing free educational content to the STPM candidates or Form 6 students. In addition to that, I would post some articles randomly pertaining to my interest.

However, since I’ve started my housemanship journey, my focus and prioritisation has been diverted. I would love to dedicate my time towards creating more Biology content, studying, filming, curating flashcards and notes but that would be difficult and rather time consuming. Hence, I’ve decided to put it on hold for now.

Nevertheless, my interest towards writing still pertains and I doubt that it is something that will diminish soon. Thus, why not put it towards something beneficial?

I found myself seated and isolated at a corner during slow days or during free periods just to write, it was my mode of escape. Hence, I started writing about my housemanship journey.

There are many blogs or articles written online in regards to the housemanship journey in Malaysia. Prior to entering housemanship myself, I used to search online for personal experiences as well as advises in terms of pulling through each postings and the housemanship journey as a whole.

On most days, my writing may be directed towards my lovely readers but in reality, most of it is a form of motivation towards myself. I was merely cheering myself on.

Albeit being physically far from home, I’m blessed to have loved one checking in on me from time to time. However, in order to pull through this journey, I had to be my best cheerleader.

Thus, I try to remain positive and on most days it is rather easy, perhaps due to the fact that it has become a reflex of mine. Then, there are days which are rather difficult. Nevertheless, I still try my best to pull myself out of such place of darkness.

Hence, if there is a change albeit it being small that I hope my blog would bring. It would be positivity, advises, love and care towards my dear readers, especially the budding young doctors or the junior doctors themselves.

Housemanship is never an easy journey and the types of hardship differs with each generation of doctors. Nevertheless, we need to be of good moral support to each other and to pull through this journey so that we shall emerge stronger on the other side.

Treasure the good days for definitely, there will be and be of good moral support among your colleagues. It is not a competition among your peers but a competition within yourselves.

I hope that with every article that I write and upload on this website, I am able to spread some form of comfort and positivity especially within the community of junior doctors.
