What’s your go-to comfort food?


Curry instant noodles with egg.


The egg, is a mandatory ingredient in this dish.

It is unhealthy and I rarely consume it now but it is my “go-to, feel good, easy to whip up” kind of food.

Usually, when I cook my instant noodles, I would modify it by adding some curry powder as well as chilli powder in addition to the premix sachet given in the package.

This is because I love my noodles soupy and usually with the amount of water that I use to cook my noodles, the taste of the “curry” from the premix would be diluted. Thus, in order to give it an extra “kick”, I’d add a few spoons of curry powder and chilli powder while cooking my noodles. No addition of salt, but some crushed black pepper to kick up the spiciness.

This is then followed by a few slices of fish, some vegetables and when the water is boiling, two eggs, cracked into the boiling water before adding the noodles.

Finally, after it is done, I would serve it on a bowl with some anchovies or chips or muruku (yes, I’m a bit weird but it actually does taste good), and put on a good movie before crashing to bed.
