Secondary school. Surprisingly.
In Malaysia, secondary school is from age 13-17 years old. If you are taking Form 6 / STPM, then there is an additional 2 years of your secondary school experience.
I enjoyed my Form 6 / STPM experience. I would say that these two years were the best years of my secondary school experience.
What about Form 1 to Form 5? Form 3, Form 4 and 5 was not so bad. However, I didn’t fully enjoyed it. It just gets better towards the end, maybe because I was a senior by then and knew my way around the system.
Looking back, if I could relive these moments, I would’ve tried to make the best out of it. I recalled going to school every day and hating every bit of it because I did not get along with my peers and only had a number of friends to whom I’m grateful are still in touch with me today. This affected me even more as it hindered me from joining other extracurricular activites.
I may not liked it but at least I would have attempted to make the best out of my day every day rather than merely displaying my frustrations on my face.
Perhaps that’s why I try my best to make my housemanship experience more enjoyable for me. After all, it is something that I would be doing for a good number of years of my life. Well, why not make the best out of it?
The upside of this is that I am able to remain determined and optimistic on most days. Thus, even after the worst days, even when I feel like letting go of the rope that I am so desperately clinging on to, the small glimmer of hope remains ignited inside of me, never extinguishing. Eventually, the fire builds again and I’m on my feet with fire in my eyes.
Well, if only I were like that back in secondary school.
However, I wouldn’t be who I am today, right?
